My first show of 2020 will be for a care home in Brighton.
I’m really looking forward to starting the year with that engagement, because I love performing in retirement, care and nursing homes.
It requires a different sensitivity and responsibility to my usual bookings, and I’m proud to offer special rates to help create engaging, professional entertainment on their often challenging budgets.
I wrote a whole blog about all this. You can find it via the link in my bio.
And if you know a home that would enjoy my show, do get in touch.

Carmen
For #flamencofridays this week, I share this portrait of opera singer Émilie Ambre as Carmen by Édouard Manet.
Carmen - the book, the opera, Carlos Saura’s Flamenco ballet, the character, her stereotype and misconceptions - has fascinated me for a very long time.
Just this week I’ve been reading about it all again.
One of the many crazy things to know about this cultural phenomenon is that Bizet’s opera was a most terrible failure with audiences at its premiere in 1875.
Bizet passed away soon after, with many assuming it was suicide. But it was his poor health that caused his death at just 36 years of age.
He never got to see the incredible worldwide success his opera and music had and the lasting legacy they have up until today.
