Adding an out-of-the-ordinary element to your hen party shouldn’t break the bank. That’s why a solo Flamenco dancer is such a great option. I create an entertaining and engaging highlight for your party that gets all your guests together, because watching a show is inclusive and of interest for all ages, from the children to the aunties and grannies.
Activities for a Spanish theme hen do: learning to dance Flamenco
Flamenco may be complicated when you get into the details, but at its most basic it’s accessible and yet incredibly empowering to learn. You’ll learn to dance in a proud, strong posture, feel like a queen and look stunning. I will teach you the characteristic stomps (take off your heels 😉), spins and arm movements. We’ll also try claps and beautiful hand movements.
This can be a more formal tutorial class or an informal follow-along-style session to get you onto the dance floor. Whichever you choose, it’ll be fun and inclusive for all ages, abilities and also reduced levels of mobility. I have experience teaching people with zero experience from nursery to retirement home age. My oldest student turned 100 shortly after I taught her 🙂.
Food for a Spanish theme hen do: tapas and paella
Spanish food is wholesome, scrumptious and healthy. It’s the ideal party food, because with its variety of tapas and paellas it easily allows you to cater for different dietary requirements and tastes.
Drinks for a Spanish theme hen do: sangria and cava
I don’t care if your hen do takes place in summer or winter, sangria is the perfect party drink! You can use cava, the Spanish version of champagne, for the toasts.
Dress code for a Spanish theme hen do: colours or summer dresses
Red and gold, the colours of the Spanish flag, are celebratory and flattering. I think it makes for a great alternative dress for the bride-to-be to go all out in gold instead of white, and for the bridesmaids to go for lighter shades of gold or reds.
If a red and gold theme for all the guests seems too much, beautiful flowing summer dresses will look gorgeous. You could get a large red flower or handheld fans as mementos for all the guests. I usually bring fans for taking pictures together and can show everyone how to hold them attractively as I’m doing in the picture for this blog at the top of the page.
