Last year I worked for filmmaker Onyeka Igwe who is currently based in Toronto. She asked me to create a very personal piece of choreography and to chose a location that was close to my heart. So for one beautiful day last summer we went to Queen’s Wood and filmed in the middle of the forest. Onyeka’s film ‘Can we dance for me?’ will be screened at this year’s Dance Film Festival UK in Programme 2 from 3pm.
“Dance is language.
Dance is memory.
Dance is the profane construction of self.”
