Contracts for the independent contemporary dance sector
29th September, 10am – 12noon, arrival from 9.45am
Centre 151, 151 Whiston Rd, London E2 8BL
Downstairs meeting room
We have invited guest speaker Thea Stanton, communications co-ordinator at ITC - Independent Theatre Council, to join us. She will speak to us about choreographers’ legal rights, correct rates and conditions and about negotiating contracts.
Next, we will have a look at the contracts in use in the independent contemporary dance sector at the moment and analyse what’s good, what’s missing and what needs improving. The outcome will be a template that emerging artists can use in their actual practice! In the absence of templates suitable for independent artists at this stage of their career this will fill a gap and help artists behave professionally from the outset.
It will be our most exciting and forwards-pushing workshop yet. Join us when we write a small piece of history!
Looking ahead: For our 8th meeting we have invited a guest speaker from Equity and we will explain in realistic ways and step by step how to act when you find yourself in a work situation in which you feel exploited or unfairly or even illegally treated. Watch this space for the date and time tbc soon.
Tickets must be booked in advance by Wednesday, 27th September, and cost £3 + a 30p booking fee. Get your tickets now: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/415327
This small fee helps us cover our administrative costs for running these events.
